“Risen” by Cole Gibsen is officially release today, March 27, 2018 and you really have to read it, especially if you love a good story about vampire !
This first book was so good, I posted my review few weeks ago, if you haven’t read it yet :
” From the first pages, I was totally hooked by the story. The writing is really smooth, pleasant and the action starts already in the first chapter. And if you know me, you’d know that I really don’t like books with long lasting introduction! ” – Complete review here
Fans of Vampire Diaries and Twilight will be thirsting for this latest vampire addiction…
My aunt has been kidnapped by vampires, and it’s up to me to save her. Only…I had no idea vampires existed. None. Nada. I’m more of a reader than a fighter, and even though I’d been wishing to escape my boring existence in the middle of nowhere, I’d give anything to have it back now if it meant my aunt was safe.
Then there’s the vampire Sebastian, who seems slightly nicer than most of the bloodsuckers I’ve run into so far. Yes, he’s the hottest being I’ve ever come across, but there’s no way I can trust him. He swears he’s helping me get answers, but there’s more to his story. Now I’m a key pawn in a raging vampire war, and I need to pick the right ally.
But my chances of surviving this war are slim at best, when the side I choose might be the one that wants me dead the most.
I really loved “Risen” and I’m so glad to have you on my blog for an interview!
I love good stories about vampires, and I like the fact that they were 3 different types of vampire. How did you come with this idea?
Really I was sitting around one day thinking about the different types of vampires created by different authors; from Bram Stoker, to Anne Rice, to Stephanie Meyer, and I wondered what would happen if they all existed in the same world. That was the moment the idea for RISEN was born.
Do you already know how many books this series will contain?
RISEN is currently under contract for three, but who knows? I’m having so much fun with this world, I don’t want it to end.
In case of a film adaptation of your book, which actors would you pick up to play your main characters?
This is so hard! If I had to choose I could see Penn Badgley playing Sebastian, Selena Gomez as Charlie, and Emily Browning as Opal.
Could you tell us more about the optimal conditions that you’re seeking to write? Meaning location, time of the day, background music, hand writing, and so on.
I’m very easily distracted, so my favorite place to write is my home office (providing there aren’t any humming birds at my feeders because I can lose hours watching them). I write with music, but it has to been instrumental. I like a fresh, hot cup of coffee within reach, and I’ll have Young Living Dreamcatcher oil diffusing nearby.
As a writer, do you read a lot?
I read a ton. The last book I read was THE BELLES by Dhonielle Clayton. It has everything; a New Orlean’s fantasy world, romance, and evil twists and turns. I gobbled it up.
I know you’re a fan of comic books and X-Men (I’m a fan too), so my last question: who is your favorite X-Men character?
Hands down, Jean Grey. I love everything about her from her relationship struggles to constant battle she fights with the Phoenix force over her own mind. And I love that she’s a woman and one of the most powerful mutant beings in existence.
Thank you a lot 🙂

“Don’t say it like that, Charlie. I wanted to protect you.” She tugs on the edge of my cardigan, pulling me toward her. “I love you. You’re the most important thing in my life, do you understand?”
There’s a desperation in her eyes that tightens my throat. Swallowing hard, I nod.
She lets go of me with a sigh. “Maybe I took it too far.” She sweeps her dreadlocks over her shoulder and twists them tightly. “All I’ve ever wanted was to keep you safe.”
Safe. The world spirals, cold and slippery, down my spine.
“What are you so afraid of?”
She opens her mouth only to shut it again.
We turn as he claws at the door.
“The only thing there is to be afraid of,” she whispers.
